Annually, DHCD finances approximately 2,700 units of multifamily rental housing in 40 properties, amounting to $350 million in construction and permanent financing. Funding comes from a variety of sources including state-appropriated funds, taxable and tax-exempt revenue bonds, federal low-income housing tax credits, federal HOME funds, and other federal funds. The Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro stop. POSITION DUTIES The Network Administrator III provides network administration and ensures high availability of the Departments computer network, server infrastructure and enterprise software platforms. The chosen architecture for the network and server infrastructure must facilitate high-availability, scalability, adequate transactional performance and strong data security compliance for the Departments numerous case management and financial systems. The position must recognize and treat appropriately any non-public information, including PII. The incumbent must understand and adhere with IT security standards and methodologies, including State guidelines. They will have extensive interaction with software/database developers, and network professionals both internally and with partner organizations, and all levels of program staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years of experience administering a computer network containing 500+ endpoints in an organization with extensive level of program integration and reliance on technology.

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Applied Technology or Computer Science from an accredited college or university and three years of experience converting data from project specifications by preparing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools; planning, installing and maintaining data communications network lines and devices; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute fifteen credit hours from an accredited college or university in systems analysis and applications programming using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools for one year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute completion of a certification program in Network Administration, such as Certified Novell Administrator (CNA), Microsoft Certified Product Specialist NT 4.0 Administrator or equivalent certification program for one year of the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute experience in one of the following areas: operating computer systems, scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining backups or data storage, processing data on computer systems, evaluating, implementing, and maintaining computer hardware and software or converting data from project specifications by developing programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools on a year-for-year basis for a high school education.
5. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Network Analyst classifications or Network Integration and Management specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Information technology, Information systems, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Microsoft Exchange Engineer Certification.
  • Experience as an administrator with virtualized server and workstation infrastructure (such as VMWare vSphere, or MS Azure Administration).
  • Experience with Enterprise Platform Administration, such as Google or Microsoft.
