Position Summary

The Safe at Home Administrator leads the development and growth of the Secretary of State's Safe at Home program, helping protect survivors of domestic violence, sexual battery, human trafficking, rape, or menacing by stalking by keeping their address private.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Under the general direction of the Director of the Public Integrity Division, develops and implements new initiatives and projects to increase awareness and compliance as well as efficiency for the program.
  • Reviews and updates Safe at Home materials, regularly reviews and maintains Unit policies and procedures.
  • Communicates with county boards of elections, outside agencies, and community partners to spread awareness of the program and increase eligible participation through emails, phone calls, and attends meetings and conferences.
  • Supervises the Safe at Home Assistants and Liaisons in their essential functions on the daily operations and coverage of the program to ensure Ohioans have the highest level of accessibility; and
  • Directly works with program participants, local and state government entities to resolve any issues in utilizing the substitute address.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Completed an undergraduate core program in criminal justice, social sciences (e.g., criminology, sociology, psychology) or related field.

Experience

  • Required: Experience in collaboration, critical thinking, decision making, and confidentiality.
  • Required: Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with county boards of elections, partner agencies, and application assistants.
  • Follows SOS policies and procedures, as well as applicable state and federal laws and administrative code as they relate.
  • Interprets and follows a variety of instructions in written, oral, or picture format.
  • Uses proper research methods in gathering data; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things.
  • Keen attention to detail, accuracy in work and organization skills; and
  • Handle sensitive and confidential inquiries from government agencies, courts, participants, and employees.
