Administrator for Division(s) within the Department of Surgery manages, directs, leads, and oversees all business, educational, research, clinical, administrative and finance operations of division(s) and clinical practice with full oversight and accountability for a total budget of over $16 Million, 24 faculty & fellows, and 11+ staff members and students; directs, manages and supervises all divisional administrative and operational activities; directs, leads and manages all fiscal affairs for Division(s) directs and preserves established financial and operational processing environment; ensures adherence to appropriate internal control structures and compliance with established fiscal policies, procedures and regulations; develops and implements long-term financial plans and objectives; analyzes statistical information; supervises and monitors day-to-day activities of administrative staff and students; provides technical and administrative guidance and coordination to ensure support staff activities and workflow processes are handled in an efficient and timely manner; manages all recruitment and hiring of staff; hires and trains employees that provide faculty support services; administers and manages performance management activities; plans, assigns and monitors individual workloads and completion of work activities; ensures appropriate staffing levels; plays a key role in developing, establishing and communicating strategic plans, innovative initiatives and long-term goals and objectives to support the mission, vision and values of the organization in collaboration with Division Chief(s) (chief); researches and identifies current and emerging trends to facilitate development of innovative programs, services, and new initiatives to expand clinical, educational and research programs and services; collaborates with Division Chiefs and the Sr. Department Administrator to develop divisional governance policy and procedures; defines scope of strategic plans and works.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in business administration or finance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, health services management and policy, finance, human resources, public health or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; at least seven years of experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity in a health care setting required, preferably in an academic medical center; experience managing a large program, department or section preferred; experience in a supervisory capacity strongly preferred; knowledge of University and/or departmental policies, rules and regulations preferred; considerable knowledge of accounting principles and applications required.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
