GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This position performs data abstraction by capturing the complete patient history, diagnosis, staging, and treatment information for all patients accessioned into the AHN cancer registry database, in accordance with the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS CoC), the Pennsylvania Cancer Registry, and AHN requirements. Assumes direct responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the information collected.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform primary data abstraction duties for clinical measures and registries while ensuring high levels of abstraction accuracy and ensure alignment with organizational quality standards. (65%)

• Screening disease indices, pathology reports, radiology reports, and other clinical documents to identify reportable cancer cases. (15%)

• Maintain cancer registry database which may include loading import files, generating and working data status reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and timeframes as well as assisting in reporting to state registries as needed. (10%)

• Participates in educational opportunities annually to stay informed of ongoing changes and updates. (10%)

• Other duties as assigned or requested.

Q UALIFICATIONS:

Required

• Associates degree in health care related fieldOR relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of Associate's degree.

• 1 year of knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and/or medical terminology.

• 1 year of experience understanding and interpreting medical and treatment information.

• Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS).

Preferred

• Epic experience

• Elekta Metriq software experience

• Registered Health Information Technician/Administrator (RHIT/RHIA) or exam eligible

SKILLS :

• Ability to understand and interpret medical and treatment information.

$21.88

Pay Range Maximum:

$33.57

Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidates qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations.
